Gear Review – inov-8 Raceshell 220

For those of you who are road running or trail running enthusiasts, you know that you need to be well kitted-out for your run, and we are not just talking about having a pair of good running shoes. You also need to take the elements into account, and a good running jacket is essential! The perfect running jacket to keep an eye out for is the awesome inov-8 Raceshell 220.

inov-8 Raceshell 220 Jacket

If you are looking for something that is practical and stylish, this is the holy grail of running jackets. The inov-8 Raceshell 220 is compact and features taped seams and a stretch nylon ripstop outer PTFE membrane. It is also very easy to store… in fact it can be packed into its own pocket.

Amazingly, even though it weighs a miniscule 220g, it still does the job and it as durable as they come. The slim fit is a joy to run in as its lightweight nature prompts this comfortable fit. The taped seams are there to reduce chaffing and the concealed hood is ready to keep your noggin dry in a moment’s notice.

It is as waterproof as it gets, so you don’t have to worry about getting drenched during an unexpected downpour during your run. It also has a single chest pocket that is great to carry small objects like a cellphone or car keys.

Importantly for runners, this jacket is extremely breathable and will not cause you to overheat during your run, but it will still keep you sufficiently warm. The thumb loops will assist in keeping the sleeves down and they also keep your hands warm – a very nice alternative to gloves.

The inov-8 Raceshell 220 allows you to run freely and will not flap like many other running jackets. It definitely lives up to the hype and is an absolute must for any runner.

What type of jacket do you run in? Is there something specific that you look for in a running jacket?
