Description:  A 37km mountain trail run which happens once a year and tracks around Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. The mostly single track offers great challenges and spectacular views.

Two Oceans Trail Run

Description: The Two Oceans Marathon race organisers introduced a trail run through the forests above UCT, offering inspiring views over the peninsula. It offers both a short and long run, and the varied terrain features some steep ascents and descents.

The Warrior Race

Three Peaks Challenge

Description: An event combining the mountain and city in Cape Town in a unique and tough challenge. It starts from Long Street and runners ascend Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, returning to Greenmarket Square after each peak.

The Impi Challenge

Description: One of the originals, this is fun-filled trail adventure with great scenic settings in selected wilderness areas around the country. It offers Elite (15-20km), Challenge (10-12km), Dash (5-7km), and Mini (1km for kids).

Adventure Lisa’s Forest Run

Description: This is a summer time race through the Mpumalanga countryside. It features a mix of dirt roads, jeep track, wide grassy avenues and soft pine needled tracks.

JMC (Jonkershoek Mountain Challenge)

Description: This is a 36km trail run which was a qualifying race for the South African national trail running team for 2014. It offers beautiful mountain scenes in the Western Cape. Massive turrets and cliffs feature alongside mountain streams and waterfalls. There are also 21km and 10km options.

The UTI Rhodes Trail Run

Description: This is one of South Africa’s most iconic and breath-taking trail runs which is staged in the tranquil beauty of the southern Drakensberg Mountains surrounding the Victorian-era hamlet of Rhodes. It featured a tough trail which often includes snow.
